Like any other industry, the music industry also has a lot of quacks. But what is most painful about this list is that some of the rappers we've come to respect and admire, also drop the ball sometimes. That is why this article is titled Disappointing and not Worst. Read on and enjoy.

Like it or not, these blogs/websites have become a force to reckon with in the Nigerian Music industry. Therefore, it's only fair we give them the honor they truly deserve. After all, the people who run these blogs are celebrities in their own right.
With all the hype surrounding this kid as the next Da Grin, we at MicCheck12 had to see if really the late CEO's been reincarnated in the form of Olamide. Click here to read more.
Ajuju bangs with a new single ‘Chante’ which means ‘Praise God’. ‘When you see the birds flying high up in the sky,all of them like to Chante’. You just wanna reference God with this music. First rap verse could have been a lot better though. Still a very good song all in all.
Score: 3/5
FYI: Ajuju is signed to Homeland Entertainment and released his debut album titled “#1″ (don’t worry, I’m not sure of the pronunciation either) in November 2009; and had hit singles like “Pass me d Mic” Ft. Jesse Jagz. The album took six years to make by the way.
Music: Bolade featuring Vector with a new jam ‘Bosibi’ meaning ‘Come here’. It has this Good music feel with your ‘Baby’, ‘Boo’ or ‘Love’. More like a track for the Valentine season..Its all about love this season.Vector dropping some hot lines as well.
Davido “Omo Baba Olowo’ is out with yet another great record. The perfect record for Valentines day. Its titled ‘Ekuro’ which could be likened to an ‘Undying Love’. Not the dull kinda undying love oh..Its more of the “I’m so happy that I met you” kinda song. So you gotta put on your dancing shoes if you boo plays this for you. Good Job Davido!
Wow! So this joint just dropped on Jaguda. Basket mouth now raps oh! What does he sound like? In my own opinion, I’d suggest he sticks to comedy. Whiz kid does his thing as usual. Although his performance on this is just average at best. The only saving grace is that Eldee’s featured on it -it would have been a total disaster. As for Basketmouth, “you truly cant fit a circle into a square pipe” (in the words of Eldee by the way.
Lynxxx ‘Mr.Utunu’ comes hard on’ Drake’s Motto’. He features Grotto and Lynxxx went so hard on the hook ‘Acting like I won a lotto, if my car break down, she go follow push the Motor’.Grotto went hard as well. Big ups to Jaguda for dropping this.
Ice berg Slim finally dropped a video for ‘Too much money’ which also features Mr.Banky.W.Its a Hot video with lots of cash blowing around in the video. More importantly, Ice-berg’s lyrics were on point as well as Mr.Banky killing the hook.
‘May-D’…The newest signee to Square records just released another banger ‘Ile ijo’. May-D has already shown this potential on songs like Farabale by S.D.C and P-square’s ‘Chop my money’. This song is a guaranteed club banger.May-D is definitely gonna rock 2012.
It was December 2008, Christmas was around the corner and I was at that period, listening to Mode9′s Paradigm Shift CD. As a Modey fan, I was feeling the album but just out of curiosity, I searched online for the album review to see what fellow rap heads were saying about it
M. I.
People were feeling it as expected but I was shocked when I saw the following comment on a hip hop forum:
“I love Mode9. He should be the second best rapper in Nigeria right after MI”
My jaws dropped because I follow hip hop forums a lot and I have never heard anybody who loves Mode9, rate any rapper in the country above him. It must be “Personal Opinion”, I said to myself. But to my surprise Continue reading →
Sound Sultan Feat. Baba Dee- Temporary Turn Permanent
Sound Sultan has done what he knows how to do best. As he teamed up with his brother Baba Dee and cooked a track about the unravelling issues in the country. This is what I refer to as FORMULAIC and PLAYED OUT.
The only addition to a regular song complaining about Naija is the addition of Bomb blasts.
Thus, with the state at which people are suffering, I don’t think it’s fair to make a Partyjam out of such serious issues: Don’t think it’s fair. Score:3/5.
Eedris Abdulkareem- Jaga Jaga 2
So Also Mr. Jaga Jaga Eedris Abdulkareem shortly after his clash with fellow label mate Jaywon released The Part 2 of Naija Jaga Jaga. Its exactly the same thing as Jaga Jaga with the addition of Boko Haram. But its worseoff than Sultan’s because the lyrics were nothing to write home about; not to mention the childish rap. Score 2/5.
Phildizzle- L.O.U.D(Living Out Ur Dreams)
Phildizzle’s not new to the Music industry in Nigeria, as he worked with Maytrickz on this track who has worked with the likes of Jesse Jagz, kahil, M.I.
He’s out with a new track called L.O.U.D (Living Out Ur Dreams).
Although he sounds like he’s trying to ride off Wiz Khalifa’s swag with that chorus.
Good lyricist though. Nice lines like ‘You shouldn’t set goals when you don’t wanna score’. In summary, this is your regular ambition song. You know, the ‘I can do what I set my mind to’ song. Though delivery was good, the output would have been much better if he let us know about his personal struggle, rather than just generalize the hustle. Score 3.5/5.
